Secret 7_ Visual Research

Imagery without words

The unique aspect of Secret 7" is that it is solely about imagery, with no text related to the music being allowed on the cover at all. With this in mind this post will look at what is successful and unsuccessful within album art and design.



Peter Saville creates iconic covers by utilising simple, but interesting imagery. 

This approach could be effective as many submissions will be trying too hard to create something interesting, when a simple submission may stand out better.


High contrasting colours suggest a jarring theme within the song


I like the impact and uneasy feeling that is made from using high contrasting colours















As part of the Black Sabbath brief I will experiment with digital glitching and pixelation to represent the songs themes, below are some visual examples of how this could be used.
