Primary Research

Shelf

I have visited Morrisons to get a better idea of the current supermarket milkshakes more than what I have already analysed. Every milkshake is packaged in plastic, as these companies are producing hundreds of thousands of products at a time and need to reduce material waste, weight and prolong product life. As I am branding a more luxurious, smaller scale artisan product I will be able to use that to my advantage to create a product that stands out.

The general colours of the shelves are very vibrant and bold, with quite a lot of white. It is quote difficult to stand out due to the familiarity of the big brands that are putting out milkshakes, Snickers, galaxy etc. The best way to go about it would be to make something completely different that uses minimal colour and has an air of mystery around it to attract adults.

Frijj have recently released a range that is targeted towards a similar angle of my project. Swapping their predominantly white bottle for black and gold ones. Although this is more mature than their regular product I still think that adults would see it as a kids product, due to logo style, bottle shape and retail price.

Frijj's clever recyling initiative, using interactive packaging to make recycling less of a hassle.
