The brief in short is to create a range of luxury milkshakes aimed towards a more adult and mature audience with greater expendable income. I think if this is my audience I am going to have to make a clear choice between health benefits or indulgence.
Popular Milkshake Brands
The majority of supermarket milkshake brands are aimed towards a younger audience, featuring bright colours and lots of promotions for leisure activities such as theme parks, cinemas and activity days i.e Go Ape.
Designing the multipack is something that will be interesting for this project as it could really separate the product from the current competition by using uncommon materials and surface treatments.
A new product on the shelves which retails at quite a high price in comparison to the current competitors is Shaken Udder, which I think has quite a childlike aesthetic considering its price tag.
Mr. Sherricks
A very recent product to emerge is Mr. Sherricks luxury milkshakes, which is the same market that I am aiming for with this re-packaging project.
Independent Products
As well as looking at the big brands that are currently popular I am looking into the more independent and artisan products.
Similar Products
As I am aiming the product towards a high end market, it will be helpful to look at the aesthetics of similar value products to see if any would be applicable to milkshake.
In terms of photography I think that a black or dark brown background is going to be a must.
Spot Colours, embossing and acetate panels indicate quality and luxury
Homemade, knowledge and quality
This style of aesthetic will lend some authenticity and character to the product, rather than going down a bare minimal route.
Gu Puds are at a very similar level to what i am aiming this product at
Caviar is interesting as it is known as a luxury, expensive product however this packaging doesn't necessarily communicate that.
Simple design and use of new and interesting colours can be just as effective
I don't think the back of this pack works, as it is too forced and clunky
