Visual Research

The illustrative style used for these posters needed to be similar to the posters I designed at the beginning of the academic year as this is what grabbed Ash’s attention in the first place. However, the colours and content are factors that can be played with. Looking at existing posters, I think that the simpler ones have much more impact; less colours and simple illustration are more satisfying and easier to visually digest.

Something as complex as this would have too much going on, especially if it is part of a set of 3, there would be no clear hierarchy between the posters and would look visually overwhelming.

Simple and bold layouts like this are the cleanest and hardest hitting

I'd like to find a balance between clean vector illustration and warm, hand rendered illustration

The places that are en route through the Tour De France could be used for visual material to include int the posters.

This is a poster I have continuously referred to for inspiration, I think it uses minimum amount of colour to good effect, although quite busy I think that it is interesting and engages the viewer
