2nd Poster Development : Night Beds

Night Beds

This poster is for a band called Night Beds, as I started with the first poster I began sketching quick ideas whilst listening to the band. They have quite a bitter / happy, optimistic sound with often sad content.

The idea that I went with for this was quite simple but I think suits the music well. It is of 2 people jumping into water at night, which is quite a spur of the moment, reckless thing to do but the solemn look on their faces hints at a deeper reasoning for doing it.

Again, drawing the poster at the size it is going to be printed allowed me to manipulate layout and make changes before designing on screen.

When this was finished I scanned the drawing and neatened it up using photoshop, I also scaled up the people because after looking at the physical drawing they looked a little small in the picture.

I want it to be obvious that this is happening at night so I think the only colour I can use is a dark blue, I will have to be careful when mixing the paint that it doesn't end up too dark and close to the black.

Purple could also work, as this is often used to reference midnight and evening rather than daytime.

By using a diagonal theme across the posters, when they are seen next to each other they flow into each other well whilst also being strong on their own

I will need to take extra care when printing to make sure the colours I mix compliment each other and match to what I had in mind on screen.
