The Grand Depart: Poster Development

I decided to develop ideas that are based more around racing and cycling with only hints towards location, as this will appeal to a wider audience who may not have specific relations to the locations illustrated.

1st Poster

This poster features 2 battling cyclists and also a signpost that sums up Stage 1 of the competition: Leeds to Harrogate.

2nd Poster

This poster outlines the road racing segments of the competition and there is also a yorkshire rose hidden amongst the flowers.
Each of the posters features a bird to tie the set together and also represent the speed and freedom of cycling.

3rd Poster

This poster hints at the 2nd Stage of The Grand Depart: York to Sheffield. I tried arranging 2 cyclists racing but this cluttered the poster too much and made it too hard to understand.

4th Poster

To tie the set together the final poster features a cyclist in the foreground riding along flat land

I initially thought that making white the dominant colour would help it stand out within the set but instead it just disjointed the set

Using black made it look like night time and none of the race takes place in the dark

How they work as a set:

Additional Deliverables

As well as the 4 posters Ash mentioned the possibility of printing t-shirts, tote bags etc.

Below is an example of what could be produced to promote and remember the event
